Battery disposal legislation
Used batteries belong not to household waste. Consumers are required to bring batteries to a suitable collection place in a trade center or in a local community. You can also send them to us, we will dispose them for you free of charge (see our address under Contact). Used batteries may contain substances or heavy metals that can be harmful for environment and health.
Batteries are recycled, because they contain important raw materials such as iron, zinc, manganese or nickel.
Batteries containing hazardous substances are marked with the following symbol and a chemical symbol:
The bin means: Batteries and accumulators should not be disposed in household waste.
The chemical symbol under the bin stands for:
- Pb: Battery contains lead
- Cd: Battery contains cadmium
- Hg: Battery contains mercury
